AUG 30, KATHMANDU. Different four organisations working in the sector of women’s rights have called for ensuring at least 33 per cent women’s participation in the upcoming Constituent Assembly election.
Sathi, Didi Bahini, Media Advocacy and Sancharika Samuha have launched a collective campaign to mount pressure on the political parties to address the voices.
These organisations organised a press meet here today and shared information about this.
The campaign has been launched when the political parties have already issued circular to their regional and district committees to recommend the names of election candidates from both the direct and proportional systems.
The aim of the campaign is just to urge and exert pressure to the political parties to give 33 per cent space to women in the election, campaign member Bandana Rana said.
Similarly, another member Nirmala Sharma said no participation of women on the High Level Political Committee has led the creation of doubts over the 33 per cent women participation in the second CA.
Also speaking at the programme, CPN (UML) central leaders Sabitra Bhusal and Mamata Giri pledged to fight to ensure 50 per cent women participation in the CA election. RSS
